How to Find a Nebraska Medicare Agent: Five Questions to Ask

Whether you are new to Medicare or are already enrolled, you may find it difficult to decide which coverage option is right for you. When you work with a local, licensed Medicare agent, you will have an expert by your side to help you make the right decisions based on your individual needs.

Here are five questions to ask that can help you determine if an agent is right for you:

1. Do you sell both Medicare Advantage and Medicare Supplement Plans?

An agent who sells both types of coverage is better situated to service a variety of clients. In the event you are interested in a Medicare Supplement plan, you should also ask if they sell Part D prescription drug plans and stand-alone vision and hearing plans. An agent who offers more products in their portfolio can provide a one stop shop that meets all of your coverage needs.

2. Which insurance carriers do you represent?

In order to have a wide selection of plans to choose from, you want to work with an agent who represents both local and national insurance carriers who offer plans in your area. This gives you more options and increases the likelihood of finding the best plan for you.

3. How long have you been selling Medicare?

An experienced agent will be familiar with Medicare’s many rules and regulations as well as the different types of plans offered in your area. They will be able to educate you your options and help you make an informed decision. An experienced agent can help you avoid the pitfalls that come with choosing the wrong plan.

4. What should I bring when I meet with you?

The agent will ask you to bring some information that is key to finding the right Medicare coverage. This includes a list of your prescriptions, your doctors, any chronic health conditions you receive treatment for, and how often you travel. They will ask about your budget in order to find coverage you can afford. Using this this information they will be able to recommend a plan to meet your healthcare needs.

5. Will you help me enroll in the plan of my choice?

The agent should help you fill out an enrollment application and ensure that it is processed by the insurance carrier without any issues. They should follow up with you to make sure you get your new ID card. Ask the agent if they are available throughout the year to help with any questions or concerns that may arise with your coverage.

When you find the right agent, they will become a trusted advisor who can help you with all of your Medicare decisions, now and in the future.

Note: Silver&Smart does not endorse any specific Medicare agents and we do not sell any Medicare plans. We simply provide listings of Medicare agents available in your state. Many of these agents offer multiple plans. We have not vetted the agents who have purchased listings on this website, so please interview them, ask questions, and select an agent that best meets your needs. Please contact Medicare.gov, 1-800-MEDICARE, or your local State Health Insurance Program (SHIP) to get information on all your options.
