Here are five questions to ask to help you find an agent that is right for you:

1. How long have you been selling Medicare?

An experienced agent is your best resource for navigating Medicare. They will be familiar with Medicare’s many rules and regulations. They will have worked with a variety of clients and situations. They can educate you on the different plan options available to you and help you determine which one is the right fit for your individual circumstances.

2. Which insurance carriers do you represent?

In order to have the widest possible selection of plans, you should choose an agent who represents both local and national insurance carriers who offer plans in your area. You are more likely to find a plan that suits your needs.

3. Do you sell Medicare Advantage and Medicare Supplement Plans?

Some agents sell both, and some agents only sell one or the other. An agent who sells both is better situated to service a variety of clients. If you are interested in a Medicare Supplement plan, you should also ask if the agent sells Part D prescription drug plans as well as stand-alone vision and hearing plans. An agent who offers more products will be able to service all your needs, meaning you won’t have to shop around anywhere else.

4. What if I can’t afford my Medicare coverage?
